NEWS: Sanur Beach Restored!
Sanur's beaches have now been restored to their former glory and now rate as some of the finest in Bali!!

Locations
Sanur
Sanur is located on the Eastern side of southern bali and is famous for its beaches. The first tourist area of Bali, Sanur has a relaxed, mature feel and is still very Balinese. The beach leads into a lagoon protected by an outer reef making the beach very safe for swimming. There is diving snorkeling and surfing on the outer reef and sailing, fishing and jet skis in the lagoon
Kuta and Legian
Kuta is located on the Western southern side of Bali. The original surfing centre for Kuta is a bustling densly packed area of shops, restaurants and bars and, of course, the famous Kuta beach. Kuta is the place for nightclubs. The beach is famous for surfing but is noted for a dangerous undertow so swim with care.
Ubud
Ubud is situated about 30 mins drive north of Sanur in beautiful lush green countryside. It has become a haven for artists. Ubud suits people who love the environment, the arts or alternative lifestyle. Ubud boasts some very exclusive hotels and spas.
Nusa Dua
On the South Eastern Tip of Bali Nusa Dua is a planned resort area with high class hotels along a beautiful beachfront and surrounded by landscaped gardens. The place for international conventions and meetings Nusa Dua has an excellent golf course and a bowls club.
Seminyak
Situated to the north of Kuta on the South Western side of the Island Seminyak is the new trendy area of Bali. High quality shops, late night bars and trendy restaurants with a variety of cuisines make Seminyak the place for people who want to party.
Ahmed
On the Eastern coast of Bali Ahmed is a quiet get away from it all sort of place. With quiet beaches, local fishermen and a backdrop of mountains Ahmed sits close under Balis highest Volcano, Mt Agung 3000M. Ahmed is very handy for the popular diving area of Tulamben.
Lovina
On the north coast of Bali Lovina is a quiet area close to the bustling northen town of Singaraja. Famous for it's black sand beach Lovina has a backdrop of mountains.
Padangbai
Padangbai is a small port situated in a beautiful bay in Eastern bali. Ferrys to Lombok and other islands leave from Padangbai. A sleepy little place with lovely beaches and a small community feel it has become a very popular place for backpackers to hang out for while.
Other Areas
There are a number of other interesting places to stay including the environmental area in the national Park of Western bali, the diving area of Eastern Bali or the luxury hotels in the northern coastal area of Western Bali.
The Difficulty is that in bali we are spoilt for choice!

Finding a Hotel

There are between 400 and 500 hotels in Bali in a broad range of styles, levels of comfort and amenities and, of course, cost.

At the top end of the scale Bali has some of the most luxurious surroundings to be found anywhere in the world with service to match.

The budget and backpacker hotels provide comfortable accomodation at very low prices.

To help you find a suitable hotel in such a wide range of choice we have categorised our hotel listings to narrow down your search. Categories include star rating, location and price range.

To select a hotel chose from the categories, you will then be presented with a list summarising the features of each hotel. If you click on the name of the hotel you will be taken to the details and prices of that particular hotel.

You may like to start be selecting the sort of area you wish to stay and our brief synopsis on this page may help. See the maps section for maps of Bali and each of the localities.

Prices

Generally speaking hotel prices in Bali are very reasonable compared with most western countries and represent excellent value for money.

Note that the price for two people is the same as for one, In Bali prices are charged per room not per person!

Prices for hotels are quoted in US$ though many will take other currencies.
$US50 is about £35 or Aus$80

Restaurant prices are also very reasonable and on the streets are well below the prices you would pay in most western cities.

The extensive range of restaurants and shops means that here you can really indulge yourself without breaking the bank!
