Life in Bali is a constant round of fascinating events, ceremonies are constantly happening everywhere and major events include the Kite Festival, Nyepi and The Bali Arts Festival.

Event	When	What to Expect
Ogoh Ogoh Parade	The day before Nyepi	The parade is held all over Bali after sunset. All the banjar neighbourhoods and hundreds of youth associations make their own Ogoh ogoh monsters many as large as 20 feet high. Competitions are held in any major centres notably Denpasar and Sanur. More info.....
Nyepi	Annually on the day following the dark moon of the spring equinnox. 30th March 2006	New Year's day is perhaps the oddest day in Bali. On this day, throughout the island, silence is observed and inactivity reigns supreme. Also called Nyepi Day, the Balinese Day of Silence, New Year's day opens a new year of the Saka Hindu era which began in 78 A.D. More info.......

28th Bali Arts Festival	17th June - 15th July 2006	Held at the Arts Centre in Denpasar the Bali Arts Festival attracts entries from all over Bali ina series of traditional music, song, dance and drama performances and competitions. ....more info
Kite Festival	22nd July 2006	Ever seen ten kites being launched at once, each one 30 feet by 20 feet with a team of 30 people on the rope, 20 people holding the kite and 30 people in a band to encourage the gods to assist their kite? A spectacular four day event held on the beach near Sanur the kite festivals attracts thousands of entries from villages all over Bali. These days there are other kite festivals popping up but this is the first and the best. ....more info

Sanur Village Festival	25th - 27th August 2006	The inaugural event for what promises to by a friendly and relaxed event with a big future. ....more info
Nusa Dua Arts Festival	1st - 5th September 2006	The 10th festival presents a series of traditional music, song, dance and drama performance held in a series of venues in Nusa Dua on the south eastern tip of Bali. ....more info
Wismilak International Bali Sony Ericsson Womens Tennis Tournament	10th - 17th September	World class international women's tennis competition attracting greats such as Lindsay Davenport, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Francesca Schiavone and Patty Schnyder. ....more info
Kuta Karnival	16th - 24th September 2006	An annual event established to revitalise Bali in the aftermath of the tragic Bali bombing. The festival includes an extensive programme of events including sporting surf and fun events, street parties and remembrance activities. ....more info
Ubud Writers and Readers Festival	28th September - 3rd October 2006	Rapidly becoming a world class event the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival attracts around 70 national and international guest writers in a series of stimulating discussions, performances, and workshops. The festival has a number of support activities including arts performances and childrens festival. ....more info
Colossal Kecak Dance at Tanah Lot	29th September 2006	Starting at Sunset on Friday with many events to support the main activity which will be held on Saturday 29th which will be an unprecedented performance of the famous balinese Kecak dance but on a colossal scale with 5,000 dancers.http://www.cakolosal.com
8th Rotary Charity Golf Tournament	6th October 2006	18 hole charity golf tournament to be held at Bali Golf and Country Club, Nusa Dua from 1pm to 9pm.
Bali Nines Australian Rules competition	7th October 2006	The 5th annual Aussie rules football competition hosted by the Geckos football club. for those who don't know Aussie rules is a very athletic and spectacular game somewhere between rugby and soccer. ....more info
Asian Beach Games	18 - 26 October 2006	The inaugural Asian Beach Games competition.
Galungan	29th November 2006	A special day on the Balinese Calender that occurs every 7 months on the European calendar when Balinese decorate the streets with sacred Penjor poles to celebrate a 10 day period when the spirits of ancestors return to visit.
Kuningan	9th December 2006	A special day marking the end of the sacred period for Balinese.
International Film Festival	14th - 17th December 2006	An extension of the Jakarta Film Festival will hold events in Bali.
